My Earth Is Small, by Frank Brownell

My earth is so small

As I look down from space.

My earth is a ball

Revolving in space.

No right side or left side

Everything always the same –

The sunshine, the darkness

Before they had names.

Whether living or dying

Or just never been.

It’s all happened before,

But I don’t know when.

I see billions of light years

Though not very far

In relation to that

Do you know where you are?

With forces and changes

We can’t comprehend

How it was in the beginning

Or how it will end.

Still people continue

To destroy and kill

In the name of a creator

They impose their own will.

Choosing not to believe

What they know all along

For in spring the leaves blossom

And by fall they are gone.
